River Lodden, Gillingham cycle bridge - ref 3907

We recently installed this two colour cycle bridge for North Dorset District Council.  The colours chosen by the client were Black RAL 9005 for the main truss part of the bridge and Dresden Blue BS18D43 for the parapet infills.   This makes the bridge a striking landmark structure that connects the residents of Ham Farm, Gillingham, North Dorset and the local school more easily.

The overall length of bridge is 44m x 2m wide and comprises a 24m main span with two 10m side spans supported on concrete piers.  The bridge was installed on Tuesday 19th November 2013 by a 200 tonne crane.  The 28 tonne structure was manufactured in three parts and delivered on a rear steer vehicle and two articulated vehicles prior to being assembled on site.
