Scout Hill Footbridge, Dewsbury
CTS replaces bridge on Spen Valley Greenway.
A 16m x 3m tied arch truss replaced the old disused railway bridge at Scout Hill, Dewsbury
The disused railway bridge over the A644 was replaced with a modern 16m x 3m tied arch truss bridge with anti collision beams. The bridge is on the Spen Valley Greenway route for pedestrian, cyclists and horse riders and forms part of the Sustrans National Cycle network.
CTS completed the design and carried out the steel fabrication. The 20 tonne arched structure was transported in two parts and welded together by CTS adjacent to the final location. A road closure was in place during he installation which was carried out using a 200 tonne crane early on Saturday morning.
