River Caldew Footbridge, Carlisle
In 2008 an order was placed with CTS by Volker Stevin on behalf of Cumbria County Council to design, manufacture and install two steel truss footbridges over the River Caldew, Carlisle.
One of the bridges was 34m long x 3.03m wide and the other was a three span bridge totalling 54m x 3.03m comprising of three spans 14m, 26m, 14m. The bridges were manufactured as Vierendeel trusses with a bow top boom.
Cumbria County Council has been the client for a number of bridges that CTS have designed, manufactured and installed in the County. The latest one being a new bridge in Whitehaven to replace one lost in the floods.
