Far Moor Stress Laminated Bridge

CTS Bridges worked for 8 weeks in a remote area on the Pennine Way near Horton in Ribblesdale to erect this unique Stress Laminated bridleway bridge.  The 53m bridge is the longest of its kind in the world and has been shortlisted for the 2011 Construction Industry Awards and The Wood Awards in the Structural Category.

CTS supplied and installed all the timber for the bridge along with the pre-stressing bars and associated washer and plank required to carry out the pre-stressing.  The bridge was designed by the Forestry Commision Civil Engineers on behalf ot he client, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.  The design is one of the specialist stress laminated timber arches that the Forestry Commission Civil Engineers pioneered.  CTS were selected to assemble this unique structure due to their expertise in timber bridges and bridge design.
